Varun took everyone back to Edgbaston during the 2018 England series, where India was chasing 194 runs but lost the game by 31 runs. Kohli was the captain at that time, and in that match, the run machine scored 149 and 51. Despite his efforts, England’s counterattack led to India’s narrow loss. Recently, Varun Dhawan revealed how deeply the loss impacted Kohli.

Speaking on Ranveer Allahbadia’s podcast, “Virat, right now. Everything that he’s been through. I mean the times that he’s not been in good form and some insights that Anushka shared with me of him. I think it was the Nottingham Test only that India had lost and she said she didn’t attend that game. She came back and she didn’t know where Virat was. She came into the room and she saw him really down, like literally crying and how he took the whole thing on himself that I failed. When he was still the highest scorer that day, he was the captain of the side that day.”
