Interestingly, ahead of the India vs Bangladesh Test series, South Africa takes on West Indies, Pakistan take on Bangladesh while England plays Sri Lanka. But the results of none of these three series doesn’t affect India’s position in the WTC Standings.

But two draws can see India slipping down while Australia take on their top spot again. On the other hand, a single win will see India retaining their top spot. But the ideal scenario for India would be to win their 2 Tests comprehensively to keep Australia at a bay’s length.

2. India loses and draws the Test matches.
How can India remain on top?
- 1. India wins both matches.
2. India wins one, draws the other.
3. India wins one, loses the other.
2 Losses means India slips to the second. As will a draw and a loss yield a similar result. But a win and a draw or 2 wins will see India leading the charts and aiming to go head on with Australia with a better standing in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
Finally, India will take the field after a a month and a half long break. The players will be well rested and thus it is imperative that India performs well to establish their dominance in the red ball format.
