First IPL rule change

This interesting suggestion was put forward by CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan, with many speculating that it could allow MS Dhoni to be retained through this route. Although nothing has been confirmed yet, it is also true that no other IPL team wants this rule to be reinstated.

IPL CEO Hemang Amin suggested a possible change for the upcoming season, which involves allowing capped players to lower their base price. This change could help top players who are at risk of going unsold. Additionally, there was a debate among teams about changing the duration of the mega auction. Most teams believe that an extension is required to ensure stability, while on the other hand, Delhi Capitals owner Parth Jindal opposed the idea of a mega auction in 2025.
Third IPL rule change
Last but certainly not least is the IPL Retention Policy. In recent days, this policy has taken center stage, as many franchises want to discuss the number of retentions allowed. According to the current IPL retention rules, a franchise can retain a maximum of three Indian players and two overseas players before the auction. Reports indicate that some franchises want to increase this number to seven or eight.
